Michigan man killed in workplace accident involving debarking machine

OSCODA COUNTY, MI – The Oscoda County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the workplace death of a man in Northern Michigan.

9&10 News reports that 59-year-old Lyle Troyer of Fairview died in a suspected accident which occurred at a lumberyard/sawmill in Comins Township around 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13.

Deputies were called to the scene to help free a man from a debarking machine, the TV station reported. EMS attempts to revive Troyer at the scene were unsuccessful.

“As most of you have heard by now yesterday Lyle was killed in a accident out at the mill,” Syrena Troyer wrote on Facebook. “We are in shock yet as to be expected. I so appreciate all my prayer warriors that God has put in our lives. We are so blessed to have the support of family, church family and community. Thank you.”

The incident is being investigated further and an official cause of death will be determined at a later date.
